The seeing turned out to be very good at the beginning of the night, but deteriorated a few hours later when the wind shifted to the east. The humidity also rose at the same time, getting up near the limit but not quite crossing it. We remained on the boundary between two airmasses, with the humidity and seeing varying every time the wind shifted. The telescope and instruments worked well, with the echelle autoguider doing a noticeably fine job even guiding through patchy clouds. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Camron Hastings Things were running smoothly when I took over mid-way. No problems encountered all night. One pointing correction but all in all, pointing was excellent and seeing was decent. The echelle auto-guider was working smoothly all night. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:07 Echelle 275(265) 66 79 11.1/12.6 217 11 ND2 0.77 21:18 Echelle -47(-136) -31 56 9.9/10.1 182 8 ND2 1.43 00:21 Echelle 15(-162) -160 46 9.8/9.3 180 9 clear 1.1" --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 57 42 5 288 (WNW) 432 ptly cldy none 17:01 54 43 7 219 (SW) 503 ptly cldy none 18:01 52 39 10 206 (SSW) 517 ptly cldy none 19:01 53 35 8 182 (S) 440 ptly cldy none 20:01 49 42 2 132 (SE) 531 ptly cldy none 21:01 49 43 7 162 (SSE) 585 ptly cldy none 22:01 51 42 2 159 (SSE) 561 mstly clr none 23:01 50 42 6 174 (S) 556 mstly clr none 00:01 50 42 10 180 (S) 611 clear none 01:01 50 42 10 183 (S) 618 clear none 02:01 48 42 8 180 (S) 641 clear none 03:01 49 41 8 194 (SSW) 629 clear none 04:01 49 41 8 180 (S) 670 clear none 05:01 49 40 7 180 (S) 645 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
