Dembicky Started cooling the enclosure (fans and louvers) at 16:50. Opened the enclosure/mirror covers at 18:10. The folks at UW decided to change their IP address tonight and suddenly Remark didn't work (Gee, what a suprise!!!). Craig had just left about 20 mins prior to this so I had them run the telescope from the command line on the MC until Craig told me how to authorize their new IP address. The seeing degraded around 10:20 and was very variable and dependant on where the telescope was pointing. We re-checked focus at 23:30 (both instrument and guider) and found it to be around 1.2 arc sec. On the next slew the guider was back around 2-3 arc sec (but they were 27 deg off the horizon in the E too). Other than the UW people changing their IP address mid-stream, things ran smoothly for the first half of the night. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Russet McMillan Second half was characterized by clear skies, poor seeing (1.2-3 arcsec), gusty winds, and no problems whatsoever. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:15 SPIcam -130(772) 31 42 8.9/10.4 251 15 r' 1.17 19:26 NA2gdr 1797(62797) 30 43 8.6/10.1 242 20 R 1.27 20:57 SPIcam -50(764) 74 49 8.5/8.6 276 20 r' 1.08 21:02 NA2gdr 883(61883) 133 46 8.4/8.6 267 18 R 1.19 23:28 SPIcam 0(809) 235 41 7.8/7.8 272 14 r' 1.12 23:34 NA2gdr 1078(62078) 237 40 7.9/7.7 281 17 R 1.36 01:09 DISslit 50(789) 236 34 7.2/7.1 280 9 - 1.93 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 53 27 19 272 (W) 252 Clear none 17:01 54 26 12 250 (WSW) 325 Clear none 18:01 51 25 12 258 (WSW) 494 Clear none 19:01 48 24 17 246 (WSW) 896 Clear none 20:01 47 23 21 260 (W) 481 Clear none 21:01 47 24 19 274 (W) 387 Clear none 22:01 47 24 19 276 (W) 854 Clear none 23:01 46 25 14 269 (W) 466 Clear none 00:01 44 25 10 275 (W) 607 Clear none 01:01 44 24 7 280 (W) 294 Clear none 02:01 45 24 9 289 (WNW) 316 Clear none 03:01 44 22 13 306 (NW) 271 Clear none 04:01 44 23 9 350 (N) 260 Clear none 05:01 44 24 15 15 (NNE) 388 Clear none 06:01 45 24 13 355 (N) 370 Clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
