Dembicky Opened the enclosure/mirror covers at 17:55 under partly cloudy skies. Held off on test slews until the sun set but otherwise finished checkout while the telescope was cooling. Handed the instrument over to the first half observers at 18:50 for them to start their flats. Seeing was excellent for the first half despite clouds. When we focused at 19:30 the seeing was at 0.85 arc sec in r' in 3x3 bin mode. Everything ran smoothly for the first half of the night. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: J. Barentine The second started out with a smooth handover to the Echelle, but was quickly hampered by thickening clouds. Some slitviewer camera issued noted by the observer and Russet (logged into the MC remotely) were recorded by Russet. Enough sky opened up by about 01:30 to permit observations, but clouds were problematic throughout the night. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:30 SPIcam -100(872) 122 39 9.5/11.5 273 10 r' 0.85 22:28 NA2gdr -494(60505) 75 50 8.5/8.5 265 9 R 1.22 01:09 Echelle 50(-164) 200 55 9.4/9.3 260 8 Clear 0.78 04:35 Echelle 17(-152) 283 37 9.0/9.0 273 7 ND1 1.43 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 58 39 5 261 (W) 502 Pt.
