Barentine Opened the enclosure at 17:20 under partly cloudy skies to cool as rapidly as possible in the interest of achieving stable focus early for the Lens observations and the 1st half program. I began getting flats for both lens and the UW program beginning shortly after sunset, around 18:35. I was able to get the Lens flats and flats for UW in two filters before the sky became too dark for further flats. From there I focused SPICam starting at 19:15 followed by the NA2Gdr and began the short Lens program at 19:32. The clouds began to thicken near the time I handed over SPICam to Anthony. Shortly thereafter there was a serious network slowdown which caused everything on his end to hang for a couple of minutes, but that seemed to resolve itself. Meanwhile the cloud situation got progressively worse. Clouds began completely clearing from the west around 23:00 and the sky was almost completely clear by local midnight. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: N.C. Hastings Everything ran smoothly during second half. Clouds moved in around 4am but did not stop UW's science. Seeing improved as well. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:25 SPICam -150(842) 115 45 12.2/12.7 334 7 r' 0.76 19:30 NA2Gdr 1397(56998) 124 46 11.7/12.6 339 5 R 0.86 23:39 NA2Gdr 1438(847) 132 45 11.0/10.3 359 5 R 1.02 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 57 12 4 331 (NNW) 556 PtlyCldy none 17:01 57 12 1 298 (WNW) 459 MstlyClr none 18:01 54 11 1 307 (NW) 474 MstlyClr none 19:01 53 12 5 349 (NNW) 560 MstlyClr none 20:01 53 8 4 302 (WNW) 439 MstlyClr none 21:01 52 10 5 282 (WNW) 396 PtlyCldy none 22:01 51 11 7 313 (NW) 425 MstlyCldy none 23:01 49 11 7 4 (N) 435 MstlyCldy none 00:01 52 9 6 344 (NNW) 438 MstlyClr none 01:01 49 11 7 351 (N) 552 MstlyClr none 02:01 52 12 7 343 (NNW) 585 MstlyClr none 03:01 51 11 7 310 (NW) 605 MstlyClr none 04:01 52 13 6 283 (WNW) 876 MstlyClr none 05:01 52 12 5 264 (W) 851 PtlyCldy none 06:01 52 13 9 268 (W) 963 PtlyCldy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
