All systems checked out fine, mirror covers were operating normally tonight. I did find that the NA1 eyelid was set to open when I turned back to AUTO from MANUAL and this may have interfered with the cover operations last night. The lens monitoring program went well although with moderately poor seeing under photometric skies. Switchover went smoothly and the next program ran well for the remainder of my shift. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: J. Dembicky Everything ran smoothly from APO's end tonight. The 2nd half observer did have some internet connection problems around 03:30-04:20 and couldn't not seem to get a reliable Remark connection at that time. The problem seemed to be on their end since everything was working fine from APO. The original night log seems to have been deleted before it was sent somehow (I could have swore I sent it as I remember writing it). This is one that I revised from memory and what Camron sent me for the first half. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:15 SPIcam -10(830) 117 40 7.5/8.5 338 7 r' 1.01" 19:20 NA2 Gdr 2794(63792) 117 40 7.4/8.4 341 8 R 1.12" 20:04 DIS Slit -40(669) 125 35 7.1/7.9 199 0 none 1.57" 20:08 NA2 Gdr 2859(59861) 127 36 7.0/7.8 328 11 R 1.51" 21:15 DIS Slit 0(563) 130 75 7.9/7.6 308 15 none 0.98" 21:17 NA2 Gdr -416(56584) 129 75 8.0/7.6 324 18 R 1.14" --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 47 18 15 295 (WNW) 130 clear none 17:01 48 18 16 0 (N) 101 clear none 18:01 48 18 6 343 (NNW) 104 clear none 19:01 47 18 12 347 (NNW) 137 clear none 20:01 46 18 5 322 (NW) 127 clear none 21:01 47 18 21 318 (NW) 112 clear none 22:01 48 18 16 321 (NW) 165 clear none 23:01 48 18 2 359 (N) 172 clear none 00:01 47 18 16 357 (N) 156 clear none 01:01 48 20 16 18 (NNE) 145 clear none 02:01 47 20 8 0 (N) 145 clear none 03:01 47 18 14 29 (NNE) 157 clear none 04:01 45 18 20 4 (N) 175 clear none 05:01 45 16 27 20 (NNE) 120 clear none 06:01 47 7 22 26 (NNE) 205 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
