Dembicky Started cooling the enclosure around 17:30 and opened at 18:05 to further cool the primary. I took some flats for both the Lens program (that was bumped into tonights program) and the 1st half observers (they wanted 3x3 bin mode flats). I did a focus run at 19:40 and the seeing was marginal at 1.7 arc sec. With marginal seeing I decided to do a short lens observation run (60s,90s) instead of the longer (60s,90s,120s) one. We had a couple of wind gusts that took us slightly over the closure limit, but they didn't seem to last long and were only a few tenths of a MPH over the limit. I kept an eye on things just the same. Instrument changeover occured on time at 01:00. We closed due to the wind at 01:52 when it became very gusty from the N and started moving the primary (we were pointed into the wind). When I moved the telescope away from the wind (due S) the mirror calmed down, but the wind gust speed was still too high to stay open. I had a problem with the mirror cover closing (remotely) as well. It worked fine in manual mode. PR was submitted. Winds kept us closed for most of the 2nd half and we did not re-open after we closed at 01:52. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:40 SPIcam -200(291) 121 44 -0.4/0.6 19 19 r' 1.70 20:25 SPIcam -130(284) 132 51 -0.6/-0.1 359 24 r' 1.34 20:28 NA2gdr -1318(59681) 132 51 -0.6/-0.1 359 24 R 1.15 22:42 SPIcam +50(465) -70 46 -0.4/-0.7 16 17 r' 1.27 01:12 Echelle -16(-723) 3 72 -0.9/-1.0 8 22 ND2 2.10 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 35 8 4 61 (ENE) 314 Pt.
