Barentine Opened at 18:35 under clear skies and light winds. Seeing was passable for most of the evening but around 22:00 it became clear that the stellar profiles were getting to be increasingly elliptical. Seeing problems were replaced by clouds after 22:00 leading to closure around 23:30 when it became clear the sky wasn't going to. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: J. Dembicky Clouds the second half pretty much kept us closed until around 3AM. I did a quick focus (thru clouds which made it interesting) and then turned the instrument over to the 2nd half observer to try their luck. Unfortunately luck was not with the 2nd half observers and clouds quickly dashed the hopes of collecting anything useful for the night. We gave up around 04:30 when the clouds got really thick. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:00 NA2gdr 327(491) 115 41 6.2/7.8 229 13 R 1.33 23:15 NA2gdr 73(587) 211 59 7.4/7.0 254 21 R 0.96 03:14 DISslit -30(501) 93 77 7.5/6.9 278 18 none 1.22 03:23 NA2gdr 0(5700) 94 79 7.5/7.1 272 20 R 1.09 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 51 12 4 304 (NW) 353 Clear none 17:01 49 14 8 294 (WNW) 445 Clear none 18:01 50 16 4 271 (W) 366 Clear none 19:01 44 17 11 254 (WSW) 547 Clear none 20:01 43 17 14 222 (SW) 526 Clear none 21:01 44 16 12 259 (W) 522 Clear none 22:01 45 19 20 251 (WSW) 415 Ptly Cldy none 23:01 46 19 24 266 (W) 489 Mstly Cldy none 00:01 46 20 21 265 (W) 387 Mstly Cldy none 01:01 45 18 19 270 (W) 462 Cloudy none 02:01 45 19 21 276 (W) 562 Cloudy none 03:01 46 20 18 275 (W) 539 Mstly Cldy none 04:01 45 21 17 269 (W) 507 Cloudy none 05:01 44 22 17 268 (W) 507 Cloudy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
