Did not open enclosure due to clouds. Opened enclosure at 18:35. Slewed the telescope with remark and the breakers (big brown box with 4 green (well 3 green and left bottom red when tripped) on the intermediate level) tripped. I reset them with the switch on the box and that solved the problem. The clouds moved out too late to get any useful data for PU04. Had to shut down at 21:20 due to high humidity. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Russet McMillan Second half remained nasty, with fog and occasional flurries of snow. The telescope was never re-opened. Around the time we first closed due to weather, there was trouble with a new echelle error, which appears in Remark as a message saying 'check CCD.' Observers should report this error to the observing specialist as soon as it occurs and not try to do anything else with the instrument. Fortunately, the only image lost in this case was a short calibration exposure, and no time was lost since it coincided with the closure due to weather. There was no switch to DIS for the second half, according to a swap which the UW observers had worked out among themselves. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:00 SPIcam -50(647) 258 61 -0.1/1.3 181 6 B 0.84 20:00 Echelle 50( ) ND1 2.27 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 35 17 0 110 (ESE) 357 cloudy none 17:01 34 12 0 184 (S) 243 cloudy none 18:01 32 9 5 200 (SSW) 252 cloudy none 19:01 32 8 2 174 (S) 204 pt. cldy none 20:01 30 12 0 162 (SSE) 221 pt. cldy none 21:01 31 25 7 166 (SSE) 150 clear none 22:01 31 28 7 178 (S) 235 clear none 23:01 32 29 12 136 (SE) 316 ptly cldy none 00:01 32 29 17 143 (SE) 224 cloudy lt snow 01:01 30 30 10 121 (ESE) 125 ptly cldy fog 02:01 31 29 22 135 (SE) 209 ptly cldy fog 03:01 30 30 17 144 (SE) 260 cloudy lt snow 04:01 29 29 20 134 (SE) 216 cloud fog 05:01 30 29 21 147 (SSE) 585 cloud fog note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
