Jeff Morgan from UW showed up to work with SPIcam on scattered light tests. All went well except for some frost on the IRSC window. For the scattered light tests we needed to track Jupiter again, and a quick call to Nancy Chanover at NMSU helped out since she calculated all the rates for her run 2 days ago. Once we had correct tracking rates all went well, until the clouds moved in. Humidity rose and temp dropped and we had to close at 23:10 due to possibility of a frosty mirror. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Russet McMillan The humidity bounced around at borderline conditions for a few hours, very frustrating since the telescope was colder than the air. At last the dewpoint went down and we re-opened at 02:10. Widespread thin cirrus around midnight gradually decreased to nothing by twilight. We tracked Jupiter almost down to the lower altitude limit, then switched to Arcturus as a poor substitute. While Jeff was working with SPIcam, I did some tests with the guider, persevering in spite of very good seeing when I really wanted fatter images. A comparison of focus between SPIcam and the guider at low airmass showed good agreement, but the guider was severely undersampled at the time. Even when I changed the binning, a few images of 1u per 0.1 cubic feet. TELESCOPE STATUS Primary, secondary, and tertiary mirrors in place and collimated. Primary support system operational. Mirror ventilation system in place. Telescope drives operational. Current Remark version: 2.62. Current guide software version: GIm Ctrlv3.0b27. Current TCC version is 2.4.1 Current MC version: v1_7_3. - Noel Camron Hastings, Russet McMillan
