We focused through clouds at 17:57 with 1.0" seeing. No problems with operation, although the NMSU team struggled through the self-education of echelle spectra reduction. Closed at 20:25 due to threatening weather and clouds that made the observations impossible. We opened again for observations at 21:45 MST. Everything went will tracking various planets with the echelle tonight. The Obs-2 Mac crashed twice tonight but did not interfere with observing. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Russet McMillan Second half remained partly cloudy, which is always a problem for GRIM observations, but it was never bad enough to force closure. The humidity did drift up close to the limit a few times (especially with the telescope colder than the air), but never quite topped it. The GRIM observations went smoothly, although they may be a challenge to reduce. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:52 Echelle -002(-048) -096 48 4.6/6.7 265 05 clear 1.01" 20:25 Echelle +018(-135) 094 46 3.3/3.9 319 11 ND2 0.83" 00:37 GrIm2(f/5) -75(740) 186 57 2.9/2.8 307 21 J 0.88 01:08 NA2gdr -1848(58201) 200 55 2.7/2.6 305 19 R 0.97 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 41 14 1 204 (SSW) 127 17:01 40 14 6 218 (SW) 124 18:01 40 9 5 262 (W) 65 ptly cldy none 19:01 39 18 7 268 (W) 79 mstly clr none 20:01 39 26 8 293 (WNW) 160 ptly cldy none 21:01 38 27 11 306 (NW) 224 ptly cldy none 22:01 41 26 8 272 (W) 115 ptly cldy none 23:01 38 23 16 302 (WNW) 284 mstly clr none 00:01 38 24 14 303 (WNW) 360 ptly cldy none 01:01 37 29 14 301 (WNW) 333 mstly clr none 02:01 36 28 8 326 (NW) 324 ptly cldy none 03:01 36 27 14 322 (NW) 344 ptly cldy none 04:01 36 27 12 321 (NW) 372 ptly cldy none 05:01 37 28 7 294 (WNW) 254 ptly cldy none 06:01 37 31 10 310 (NW) 263 mstly clr none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
