Opened the enclosure at 16:50 and turned the instrument over to the observer at 17:10 under clear skies. 20:10 closed due to dust. I was informed that there is a controlled burn near Cloudcroft and the wind shifted directions and blew the smoke this way. Opened enclosure at 22:40 after the dust levels dropped below the acceptable levels for 15 mins. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Noel Camron Hastings Second half started as soon as the dust cleared. All ran smooth. No odd sounds heard all night from the enclosure. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:45 DIS Slit 30(799) 207 50 3.3/4.9 68 12 - 1.35" 17:55 NA2 Gdr -802(???) 213 45 3.4/4.8 69 12 none ?.??" 19:35 DIS Slit 50(737) 221 51 4.1/3.2 287 0 none 1.33" 23:35 DIS Slit -100(540) 071 76 2.3/2.4 213 1 none 0.88" 23:40 NA2 Gdr 159(540) 071 76 2.4/2.5 204 0 none 0.82" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 38 6 2 235 (SW) 495 clear none 17:01 40 4 8 21 (NNE) 706 clear none 18:01 38 3 12 67 (ENE) 335 clear none 19:01 37 4 6 78 (ENE) 577 clear none 20:01 40 1 0 24 (NNE) 3025 clear dust 21:01 40 2 0 347 (NNW) 4005 clear dust 22:01 38 2 1 9 (N) 3031 clear dust 23:01 38 0 0 315 (NW) 2597 clear none 00:01 38 -1 0 141 (SE) 1956 clear none 01:01 36 0 5 161 (SSE) 945 clear none 02:01 38 1 4 179 (S) 1418 clear none 03:01 38 1 4 180 (S) 1137 clear none 04:01 37 -5 5 180 (S) 891 clear none 05:01 36 0 5 182 (S) 1880 clear none 06:01 37 -1 2 180 (S) 156 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
