There were no problems tonight other than weather. The Princeton group ran the DIS slit viewer without incident as has become the norm. I am recommending that we start the remote operation of the slit camera officially very soon. Clouds returned with higher winds around 22:00. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Jack Dembicky Clouds were starting to thicken when I arrived and the wind was growing stronger as well. Clouds became too thick to observe thru at 23:25 and I closed the enclosure due to clouds and increasing wind speed (33MPH gusts) at 23:45. We hit the humidity closure limit at 02:45 (although we were closed long before this point due to clouds). Seeing was horrible at 3-4 arc sec due to the approaching storm. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:05 DIS Slit -150(449) 013 69 +0.4/+2.3 149 17 none 1.78" 20:10 NA2 Gdr -0351(441) 013 69 +0.5/+2.5 159 14 R 1.31" 21:55 DIS Slit -075(529) 129 44 +0.1/+0.5 111 21 none 2.15" 21:59 NA2 Gdr -0650(528) 130 44 +0.0/+0.4 116 20 none 2.40" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 38 15 12 196 (SSW) 360 cloudy none 17:01 36 13 8 183 (S) 431 cloudy none 18:01 35 -2 8 178 (S) 461 cloudy none 19:01 32 15 12 152 (SSE) 512 mstly clr none 20:01 33 8 12 147 (SSE) 531 mstly clr none 21:01 33 9 21 135 (SE) 506 hvy cirrus none 22:01 33 14 22 120 (ESE) 524 mstly cldy none 23:01 32 15 23 125 (SE) 568 mstly cldy none 00:01 32 17 28 124 (SE) 655 cloudy none 01:01 31 20 24 121 (ESE) 879 cloudy none 02:01 30 22 20 120 (ESE) 1158 cloudy none 03:01 30 27 25 120 (ESE) 1449 cloudy none 04:01 30 28 20 124 (SE) 1832 cloudy none 05:01 31 30 25 136 (SE) 2346 cloudy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
