It was clear and cool. No problems encountered, all ran smooth. An oddity with the guide camera though. Although the focus routine gave me perfectly reasonable focus values, and it appears we went through a minimum at +1000 I had to manually bump it all the way to -2000 to get a round image. This happened twice and has happened to me before. The focus script predicts focus at what appears to be a correct value based on the 5 measurements, but when I start guiding the images are asymmetrical. Anyway, I just manual fixed it and went on. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Jack Dembicky Everything ran smoothly all night until the end of the nights when flats were being taken. The camera exp button (from the observers computer, not the obs-specs) were ghosted after an exposure. It seemed to be fine from my Remark window and when I did a test exposure their button came back. Their Remark window worked fine after that. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:30 DIS Slit +075(676) 238 40 -0.9/-0.1 276 15 none 1.78" 18:35 NA2 Gdr -0133(676) 239 40 -1.0/-0.1 279 12 none 1.49" 20:20 DIS Slit +050(570) 233 41 -2.4/-2.0 308 12 none 1.43" 20:23 NA2 Gdr -1000(573) 234 41 -2.4/-1.9 326 16 none 1.37" 05:15 DIS Slit -10(530) -26 45 -0.3/-0.9 264 8 none 1.43" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 35 14 15 268 (W) 490 Clear none 17:01 33 4 14 262 (W) 602 Clear none 18:01 30 5 16 259 (W) 605 Clear none 19:01 30 2 12 267 (W) 604 Clear none 20:01 29 6 12 279 (W) 659 Clear none 21:01 28 9 16 323 (NW) 504 Clear none 22:01 31 8 14 280 (W) 344 Clear none 23:01 32 6 15 276 (W) 287 Clear none 00:01 32 7 15 302 (WNW) 252 Clear none 01:01 33 3 12 291 (WNW) 226 Clear none 02:01 32 4 5 283 (WNW) 256 Clear none 03:01 32 3 7 306 (NW) 256 Clear none 04:01 32 3 4 265 (W) 295 Clear none 05:01 31 1 6 263 (W) 227 Clear none 06:01 31 -5 10 273 (W) 156 Clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
