Wind was extremely variable from 2 to near 35MPH (closure limit). Seeing was about 2 arc sec at the start of the night. Closed due to wind at 18:50. Winds dropped below closure limits and we re-opened the telescope at 22:40. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Russet McMillan Second half had clear skies and mediocre seeing (generally 1.1-2.0 arcsec). There were only very minor difficulties (two pointing corrections needed, trouble getting the guider to pick the right star), but otherwise everything went very smoothly and a lot of data were obtained. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:23 DISslit -200(223) 124 70 -2.7/-1.6 23 6 none 1.96 18:32 NA2gdr -2390(53609) 124 70 -2.6/-1.8 0 25 none 00:14 DISslit 0(375) 59 60 -4.2/-4.7 5 10 - 1.30 04:09 DISslit 20(346) 72 74 -3.4/-5.2 4 17 - 1.61 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 32 3 6 297 (WNW) 152 clear none 17:01 30 6 13 347 (NNW) 174 clear none 18:01 27 11 24 351 (N) 189 clear none 19:01 28 9 27 353 (N) 253 clear none 20:01 27 9 21 16 (NNE) 243 clear none 21:01 26 11 30 14 (NNE) 280 clear none 22:01 24 10 23 26 (NNE) 262 clear none 23:01 25 -7 13 19 (NNE) 137 clear none 00:01 25 -4 13 10 (N) 422 clear none 01:01 23 -2 10 0 (N) 203 clear none 02:01 24 -5 21 32 (NNE) 139 clear none 03:01 23 -5 9 15 (NNE) 162 clear none 04:01 25 -11 13 8 (N) 147 clear none 05:01 26 -14 15 13 (NNE) 131 clear none 06:01 27 -16 11 5 (N) 161 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
