But by the time we got to a science target, the clouds were thickening steadily. No useful data were obtained after about 19:15. The telescope was closed at 19:45, and a few snowflakes came to visit starting at 20:30. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Jack Dembicky Started 2nd half with clouds and a couple snow flakes to set the rain sensor off. We had about 1 inch of light fluffy snow by 03:30 which prevented any chance of opening the enclosure for the remainder of the night. I started the snow program as well to reduce any further buildup on the enclosure. The observer reported that she only got about 10 mins. of questionably useful data for the entire night. Stopped snow program at 04:30 and left note on white board for the day staff to run if possible. I left enclosure facing direction of wind (what little there is). --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:06 DISslit -150(248) 45 50 -7.1/-4.9 284 11 - 2.65 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 27 7 19 264 (W) 461 mstly clr none 17:01 24 8 13 251 (WSW) 455 ptly cldy none 18:01 20 14 9 287 (WNW) 1690 ptly cldy none 19:01 20 12 17 272 (W) 545 mstly cldy none 20:01 19 12 8 265 (W) 374 cloudy lt snow 21:01 20 11 12 279 (W) 294 cloudy lt snow 22:01 19 11 6 257 (WSW) 236 cloudy none 23:01 19 8 8 261 (W) 243 cloudy none 00:01 19 9 11 227 (SW) 376 cloudy lt snow 01:01 19 10 3 183 (S) 450 cloudy none 02:01 18 11 9 205 (SSW) 440 cloudy lt snow 03:01 17 14 7 179 (S) 402 cloudy lt snow 04:01 17 14 6 167 (SSE) 417 cloudy lt snow note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
