Focusing through the clouds was a real challenge, and so was achieving the first pointing correction of the night (since there are still some pointing difficulties). Slowly the clouds thinned, however, and we got to the first target as soon as the weather permitted. The sky was clear for a couple of hours, but still with bad seeing. Then another cloud system moved in to make things difficult again. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Jack Dembicky Skies once again cleared around 00:50 but the wind started increasing. Closed due to wind at 01:35 since I recorded a couple gusts within 15 mins of each other of over 35MPH. Opened back up at 02:50 under clouds, trying to get some data. Skies cleared around 03:40 but clouds came back by 04:30 and remained for the remainder of the night. No problems otherwise. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:25 DISslit -100(519) 44 52 0.2/0.2 191 26 - 2.0 21:57 DISslit 0(588) 212 45 -0.8/-0.9 216 23 - 1.68 00:25 GrIm2(f/10) 0(537) 159 55 -2.2/-2.3 218 19 K 0.99 00:35 NA2gdr 274 246 32 -2.2/-2.3 231 19 none 2.52 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 34 9 15 184 (S) 159 cirrus none 17:01 32 9 21 212 (SSW) 177 cirrus none 18:01 32 12 17 183 (S) 223 cirrus none 19:01 33 9 22 207 (SSW) 188 cirrus none 20:01 32 11 28 212 (SSW) 214 mstly clr none 21:01 31 13 25 199 (SSW) 281 clear none 22:01 31 14 20 204 (SSW) 322 mstly clr none 23:01 29 16 28 208 (SSW) 435 pt. cldy none 00:01 29 14 20 208 (SSW) 306 pt. cldy none 01:01 28 8 26 220 (SW) 242 pt. cldy none 02:01 27 6 14 248 (WSW) 200 cloudy none 03:01 26 9 18 239 (WSW) 227 pt. cldy none 04:01 24 8 20 241 (WSW) 279 pt. cldy none 05:01 24 9 20 232 (SW) 277 cirrus none 06:01 24 7 23 205 (SSW) 245 cloudy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
