Opened enclosure at 17:10. I had a problem with the NA2 guider imaging (all zero's) that Craig traced to a bad connection on the camera or controller box (He wiggled the wires and that seemed to fix the problem). This delayed PU04 from starting earlier (no flats, only biases), but I was able to take 20 images for that program with 0.99 arc sec seeing in R. Aborted SPIcam on image 2237.0021 to hand over the instrument to the next program. Everything ran smoothly otherwise with 0.7 arc sec seeing later in the evening. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Noel Camron Hastings Second half started with a GRIM problem, the old writing zeroes problem we had late last year. Craig knew what it was and where to fix it and we started on time after a quick inst switch. No strange noises heard from any motors tonight, all went smoothly. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:00 SPIcam 0(972) 242 41 3.5/5.8 234 12 R 0.99" 20:06 Echelle 36(-74) 300 34 3.6/3.5 232 17 clear 1.47" 00:20 GRIM f/10 000(746) 179 70 3.2/3.4 175 17 K 0.52" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 43 0 7 248 (WSW) 68 clear none 17:01 40 -11 7 250 (WSW) 81 clear none 18:01 38 -24 10 235 (SW) 57 clear none 19:01 39 -26 9 203 (SSW) 69 clear none 20:01 38 -26 13 204 (SSW) 58 clear none 21:01 39 -28 15 213 (SSW) 74 clear none 22:01 39 -27 16 199 (SSW) 53 clear none 23:01 40 -26 16 189 (S) 52 clear none 00:01 39 -27 17 178 (S) 74 clear none 01:01 38 -25 18 176 (S) 49 clear none 02:01 39 -29 13 175 (S) 70 cirrus none 03:01 40 -17 24 181 (S) 63 cirrus none 04:01 36 -24 18 167 (SSE) 79 cirrus none 05:01 36 8 20 177 (S) 436 ptly cldy none 06:01 36 14 18 171 (S) 826 cirrus none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
