Started on time, good seeing, good weather. The guider did exhibit the same shutter sticking problem that was seen last night. A problem report was submitted then, so I did not submit another. Tracking and pointing were very good tonight. Second half started on time, clouds began to show up. UW's SPIcam program ran without trouble. The guider shutter sticking seemed to disappear. The night's events seem to again suggest that it is a heat related problem. --------------- OBSERVER'S COMMENTS ---------------- J.Dalcanton (UW05): Lovely night, excellent seeing, expert help. Guider much improved over the spring runs -- very little degradation between 10 second and 10 minute exposures -- kudos to the engineering squad. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:10 DIS Slit 300(1676) -073 71 18.2/20.5 166 14 none 1.06" 20:17 NA2 Gdr 1167(1676) -073 70 18.1/20.3 152 13 none 0.86" 01:27 SPIcam -030(1188) 139 69 17.0/17.0 182 12 6570A 0.49" 01:34 NA2 Gdr ????(1188) 139 69 17.0/17.0 207 14 none 0.72" 02:45 SPIcam -025(1100) 195 73 17.1/17.0 198 19 6629A 0.52" 02:50 NA2 Gdr -1217(1100) 197 73 17.0/17.0 182 13 none 0.72" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 73 33 20 179 (S) 778 clear none 17:01 73 33 18 210 (SSW) 562 clear none 18:01 71 34 17 207 (SSW) 642 clear none 19:01 67 34 13 184 (S) 713 clear none 20:01 64 35 13 174 (S) 852 clear none 21:01 63 35 13 162 (SSE) 892 clear none 22:01 63 35 15 173 (S) 843 clear none 23:01 63 34 11 177 (S) 770 clear none 00:01 63 34 15 178 (S) 767 ptly cldy none 01:01 62 34 11 179 (S) 789 ptly cldy none 02:01 63 35 15 185 (S) 795 ptly cldy none 03:01 62 35 14 187 (S) 810 clear none 04:01 62 37 17 186 (S) 971 clear none 05:01 61 37 11 186 (S) 1016 clear none 06:01 61 37 9 201 (SSW) 1013 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
