Adler took the telescope for twilight imaging and allowed me to get flats for the first PU05 program, which was relatively successful. During the second program I noticed that the guider shutter is no longer sticking closed, but occasionally sticking open. I could see the star trailing from the chip readout on the brighter stars. Chris Stubbs spent the first half of his program training his students and the second half (03:15 MDT) working on the fast guider camera system. The weather cleared again and was cooperative until about 04:15 MDT when we decided to close again due to clouds. --------------- OBSERVER COMMENTS ---------------- M.Strauss(PU01): A good night, with good seeing, until the clouds rolled in. We got some useful spectra, although nothing spectacular. Observing was efficient, with Camron's usual expert help. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:10 SPIcam +020(1231) 111 31 14.5/15.2 205 14 r' 1.45" 20:51 DIS Slit +000(1300) 107 56 14.2/14.9 263 20 -- 1.08" 20:55 NA2 Gdr -1489(1300) 109 58 14.0/14.7 255 16 -- 1.16" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 63 39 16 264 (W) 470 ptly cldy none 17:01 66 33 22 246 (WSW) 644 ptly cldy none 18:01 63 32 20 254 (WSW) 551 ptly cldy none 19:01 60 33 19 245 (WSW) 626 ptly cldy none 20:01 58 33 10 240 (WSW) 478 ptly cldy none 21:01 57 34 16 257 (WSW) 516 ptly cldy none 22:01 58 33 18 269 (W) 504 clear none 23:01 57 32 19 270 (W) 486 ptly cldy none 00:01 56 31 13 269 (W) 481 cloudy none 01:01 56 31 12 277 (W) 467 ptly cldy none 02:01 55 31 8 270 (W) 429 clear none 03:01 55 32 12 269 (W) 364 clear none 04:01 54 32 12 286 (WNW) 377 ptly cldy none 05:01 54 33 10 290 (WNW) 437 cloudy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
