The guider FWHM was fairly comparable to DIMM during first half, with GRIM, as usual, doing better. For much of second half, the guider FWHM was better than DIMM. With both GRIM and SPIcam, the really good seeing seemed to be when the telescope was pointed due west, obliquely away from a moderate SE wind. A little difficulty with SPIcam's filter wheel cost a few minutes during second half. ---------------- OBSERVER COMMENTS -------------- S.Palen (UW08): went great. The narrow band imaging data looks like it will do the trick! I found what I wanted to see in several of these objects. Russet was extremely helpful, particularly the first night, when it had been a while since I'd used this telescope, and never used GRIM. My only complaint is that the image display in Remark could be beefed up and made more useful (real units, etc.) but that's a minor complaint. D.Zucker (UW07): Observing during the second half went very smoothly, and the photometric skies and excellent seeing (as low as ~0.8" at H alpha) allowed us to get good data on a large number of our targets. Thanks to Russet for singlehandedly keeping two shifts of UW observers and the telescope happy and functioning efficiently! --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:55 SPIcam -25(1164) 112 54 15.1/16.7 155 12 r' 1.44 20:00 NA2Gdr 472(1144) 112 54 15.1/16.7 155 12 -- 1.98 23:25 GRIM(f/10) 50(1278) -95 59 14.2/14.2 134 17 2.122 0.44 01:15 SPIcam -75(935) -90 63 13.1/13.3 137 22 Halpha 0.75 01:20 NA2Gdr -1285(938) -90 63 13.1/13.3 137 22 -- 0.87 05:00 SPIcam -75(860) 30 65 12.1/11.8 183 9 Halpha 0.98 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 17:01 65 30 9 271 (W) 587 ptly cldy none 18:01 65 30 3 265 (W) 634 ptly cldy none 19:01 62 30 11 195 (SSW) 554 mstly clr none 20:01 59 30 12 149 (SSE) 659 clear none 21:01 59 30 13 145 (SE) 613 clear none 22:01 58 28 13 142 (SE) 561 clear none 23:01 58 29 17 136 (SE) 491 clear none 00:01 57 30 18 133 (SE) 606 clear none 01:01 56 30 22 137 (SE) 651 clear none 02:01 55 30 19 136 (SE) 567 clear none 03:01 55 30 18 133 (SE) 569 clear none 04:01 54 30 11 165 (SSE) 513 clear none 05:01 54 30 7 185 (S) 483 clear none 06:01 54 30 5 181 (S) 535 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
