The only difficulty was tracking the rapid changes focus with GRIM at f/10, which may have been a consequence of opening rather late for cooling (due to calibrations), along with the good seeing making any changes in focus more obvious. Since the seeing was so nice, I used the instrument change time to grab some quick Shack-Hartmann data, with no impact on the scheduled times. Observing Specialist, 2nd shift: Noel Camron Hastings The seeing seemed to deteriorate somewhat when the S-H data was acquired, but not horribly. Other than that we had good skies. Smooth sailing. GRIM was left on the telescope so that the observer could do some dome flats in the afternoon. The eyelid was left open for cooling. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:20 GRIM(f/10) -100(1320) 189 61 16.5/18.8 315 4 K 0.58 20:25 NA2gdr -700(1320) 189 61 16.5/18.8 315 4 -- 0.93 20:35 GRIM(f/10) -130(1286) 197 60 16.0/18.4 300 5 J 0.71 22:10 GRIM(f/10) -050(1269) 260 77 16.6/17.0 314 6 K 0.78 22:50 GRIM(f/10) 100(1415) 268 69 16.6/16.8 285 6 K 0.47 01:30 Echelle 081(0380) 332 63 16.2/16.0 215 7 clear 0.95 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 68 33 16 312 (NW) 743 mstly clr none 17:01 66 31 2 330 (NNW) 623 clear none 18:01 66 29 7 332 (NNW) 576 clear none 19:01 63 30 1 275 (W) 565 clear none 20:01 62 31 2 293 (WNW) 671 clear none 21:01 61 32 1 339 (NNW) 733 clear none 22:01 60 32 4 318 (NW) 701 clear none 23:01 62 32 3 258 (WSW) 750 mstly clr none 00:01 62 32 2 263 (W) 695 clear none 01:01 61 31 6 267 (W) 725 clear none 02:01 61 33 3 264 (W) 757 clear none 03:01 60 33 2 351 (N) 737 clear none 04:01 60 29 10 11 (N) 757 clear none 05:01 60 24 14 40 (NE) 726 clear none 06:01 60 28 8 38 (NE) 732 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
