A hole appeared overhead, but lightning all around, so I remained closed. Observing Specialist, 2nd shift: Russet McMillan Clearing progressed after midnight, but we watched the progress of a storm complex until 01:00 to be sure that it wasn't heading our way. The telescope was opened just in time for the second half program to proceed normally. Clouds began to reappear around 02:30, but not thick enough to prevent us from observing several targets. The telescope and instrument were generally well behaved, except for some previously-known problems such as the guider's inability to deal with clouds. --------------- Observer Comments ---------------- --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 01:15 DISslit 25(1296) 172 58 15.0/16.3 130 17 -- 1.15 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 65 48 2 77 (ENE) 684 cloudy rain 17:01 64 49 3 87 (E) 843 cloudy rain 18:01 64 43 7 85 (E) 542 cloudy rain 19:01 61 45 13 78 (ENE) 516 cloudy none 20:01 64 42 7 92 (E) 527 cloudy none 21:01 63 42 14 143 (SE) 584 cirrus none 22:01 61 43 16 126 (SE) 534 cirrus none 23:01 60 41 17 120 (ESE) 620 cirrus none 00:01 60 42 20 130 (SE) 586 mstly clr none 01:01 59 42 15 132 (SE) 659 clear none 02:01 57 43 17 127 (SE) 715 mstly clr none 03:01 56 46 20 135 (SE) 971 ptly cldy none 04:01 55 47 18 144 (SE) 1109 ptly cldy none 05:01 54 47 12 173 (S) 916 ptly cldy none 06:01 55 47 9 179 (S) 623 ptly cldy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
