Seeing was worse than recent nights, with delivered FWHM in the range 1.5-2.0 arcseconds. The wind was moderately high, and a few examples of image motion were probably caused by windshake too fast for the guider to compensate. Otherwise, the telescope and instruments behaved perfectly. Observing Specialist, 2nd shift: Noel Camron Hastings Seeing deteriorated quickly as I came on. No telescope or instrument problems reported. I switched to SPIcam at 01:10 without incident. Seeing improved near morning. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:35 SPIcam 25(1163) 125 71 15.7/16.7 79 19 r' 1.22" 21:45 SPIcam 50(1173) 180 58 15.1/15.6 82 21 V 1.52" 20:20 SPIcam -25(1098) 145 52 14.6/15.0 98 22 V 1.31" 23:15 GRIM(f/5) -25(1239) 228 52 13.8/14.3 82 21 H 1.32" 00:55 GRIM(f/5) -25(1161) 156 56 12.7/12.9 78 18 H 1.89" 01:30 SPIcam -50(0964) 112 52 12.4/12.7 77 17 R 1.90" 04:30 SPIcam -25(0908) 209 69 11.6/11.9 88 09 R 0.79" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 17:01 68 37 12 65 (ENE) 667 mstly clr none 18:01 66 36 16 79 (ENE) 575 mstly clr none 19:01 64 33 15 76 (ENE) 539 clear none 20:01 61 33 17 83 (E) 683 clear none 21:01 60 36 17 89 (E) 867 clear none 22:01 59 39 18 76 (ENE) 947 clear none 23:01 57 41 20 81 (E) 1024 clear none 00:01 55 43 13 103 (ESE) 1027 clear none 01:01 55 43 16 86 (E) 1028 clear none 02:01 54 42 13 77 (ENE) 1053 clear none 03:01 54 42 12 78 (ENE) 991 clear none 04:01 53 42 10 84 (E) 1028 clear none 05:01 53 41 9 90 (E) 1014 clear none 06:01 53 40 9 80 (ENE) 1055 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
