Since it was quite late to call anyone to monitor the tertiary motions, and in any case it's unclear whether that procedure is actually helpful, I homed all axes myself. I was able to open at 04:05 under variably cloudy skies. There was just enough time for me to update the secondary tilts as a function of altitude and run a 70-point pointing model, but in practice the pointing model had to be abandoned 3/4 of the way through due to thick clouds and rising humidity. The partial data set still appeared usable, however, with an RMS error of less than 4 arcseconds. The telescope was closed at 05:25. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18:01 56 53 15 124 (SE) 951 cloudy none 19:01 55 51 17 112 (ESE) 1029 cloudy lt rain 20:01 56 51 19 123 (ESE) 1343 cloudy rain 21:01 53 51 19 143 (SE) 1368 cloudy rain 22:01 54 50 23 132 (SE) 675 cloudy lt rain 23:01 55 51 26 139 (SE) 1690 cloudy none 00:01 55 51 23 145 (SE) 1635 cloudy none 01:01 55 51 19 143 (SE) 1573 cloudy none 02:01 56 50 20 147 (SSE) 1227 ptly cldy none 03:01 55 50 19 147 (SSE) 1188 ptly cldy none 04:01 55 50 16 153 (SSE) 934 ptly cldy none 05:01 55 50 18 144 (SE) 974 cloudy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
