Tested all instruments, all checked OK. Began Shack-Hartmann testing in place of the time UW10 would have used for SPIcam. SPIcam is down at the moment and warm. The S-H testing went well with decent seeing. I took a full altitude sweep, as well as fan on/off testing. All S-H images above about 82 degrees showed image motion, recorded on VCR from approximate time marks 2h20m-2h32m. Tracking was poor as well at this altitude. Could some of the image motion be due to the azimuth motors ramped up so high. We had seen some motor noise in PMSS data before, and during this period on the PMSS load cells, primarily B, there is a strong sinusoidal signal. I did not try a FFT on it while running for fear of crashing the logging program. Switched over to UW10 without any troubles. After Kevin started running his scripts the GRIM application quit. I restarted and all went well. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Russet McMillan Second half remained clear with good seeing -- our first completely clear night since before the shutdown! GRIM displayed one of each of its favorite bugs during second half. We saw one "no flush" error that interrupted a scipt, one failure of the application on the Mac, and one less-familiar problem: around 00:15, the ICC spontaneously lost its connection with the MC, with no errors apparent in any of the control windows. Restarting the ICC opened the connection again. Aside from the trouble with the GRIM software, everything worked well. The telescope pointing, which had been questioned during first half, was excellent during second half. ****** OBSERVER COMMENTS ****** - NONE - --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:45 S-H 130(2138) -62 38 17.1/18.8 138 19 none ?.??" 21:12 S-H 080(1923) -41 80 16.9/18.1 149 20 none ?.??" 22:20 GrIm f/5 000(1340) -157 59 16.3/16.8 134 22 H 0.88" 02:10 GRIM(f/5) -25(1230) 180 59 14.4/14.7 125 19 J 0.73 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 69 40 8 176 (S) 1473 clear none 17:01 69 39 3 289 (WNW) 1694 clear none 18:01 69 38 0 204 (SSW) 1543 clear none 19:01 66 37 11 148 (SSE) 1658 clear none 20:01 64 37 13 151 (SSE) 1871 clear none 21:01 63 37 19 151 (SSE) 1967 clear none 22:01 62 37 19 136 (SE) 1909 clear none 23:01 61 36 22 127 (SE) 2017 clear none 00:01 60 36 21 128 (SE) 1997 clear none 01:01 59 35 18 128 (SE) 1995 clear none 02:01 58 36 18 127 (SE) 1927 clear none 03:01 58 36 18 129 (SE) 1856 clear none 04:01 58 36 5 127 (SE) 1617 clear none 05:01 58 36 12 156 (SSE) 1520 clear none 06:01 57 36 6 120 (ESE) 1387 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
