The telescope was opened at 23:35 under high thin clouds. Seeing with the instruments ranged from poor to terrible (1.5-4 arcseconds); DIMM was not opened because of the clouds. Humidity and dust rose near the closure limits but didn't quite reach them. I closed a little early at 04:30 due to clouds. The telescope behaved well, and instrument problems were minor -- one failure of the GRIM application which cost a few minutes for rebooting, and occasional "No Optistep" complaints when trying to move the echelle's calibration mirror. Pointing with the echelle was much better than last week, so either homing the tertiary or the new pointing model must have made a difference. Many objects came up partially obscured by the slit (of course, stars were >3 arcseconds across for much of the night!) OBSERVER COMMENTS D. York (UC05): Notes: Tonight we observed three reddened stars, through clouds. Got 20 % of performance of a clear night. Data useful. No problems with observing equipment or network, except as noted by Russet.
