Opened at 21:30. Enclosure dust count hit about 2600, which was around 200 counts higher than outside. When turning on pressurization fan, the inside count fell to roughly the outside reading. Telescope was pointed SE, with a West wind of about 20mph. Later the dust fell back below limit and the press fans were turned off. Uneventful first half mechanically. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Camron Hastings We had two new observers on site and all went smoothly. They were up to speed quickly and we had an efficient night of observing. We still saw some of the image elongation of the previous nights. It is quite apparent in the guider images when we have X and Y measurements and one is always much larger than the other, usually Y it seems. It also seems that the image elongation I am talking about is always very evident in the guider, but much less so in the instrument. This is consistent with the failure being in the rotator as the angular velocity will exaggerate the movement the further out on the radial arm you are. The guider shutter stuck open again. See the last.image in the /guider directory. ****** OBSERVER COMMENTS ****** --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ----------------- Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:50 NA1sv 226(120) - 60 69 14.1/14.4 283 20 ND3 1.12" 01:20 DISslit 200(937) +269 52 11.1/11.2 348 15 none 1.16" #First temp is air, second temp is telescope structure. ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip. or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions -------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:01 63 22 25 256 (WSW) 1460 cirrus none 19:01 61 26 29 285 (WNW) 1635 cirrus none 20:01 57 29 31 270 (W) 2418 cirrus none 21:01 56 30 31 278 (W) 1594 slt cirrus none 22:01 55 30 19 278 (W) 1248 slt cirrus none 23:01 54 30 21 278 (W) 2176 slt cirrus none 00:01 53 29 14 293 (WNW) 1391 slt cirrus none 01:01 53 28 16 316 (NW) 1114 slt cirrus none 01:01 53 28 16 316 (NW) 1114 clear none 02:01 52 28 9 324 (NW) 1095 clear none 03:01 51 28 10 318 (NW) 1202 slt cirrus none 04:01 50 29 10 27 (NNE) 1293 clear none 05:01 50 29 21 18 (NNE) 1682 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
