I took bias frames for the first program before this while dome was dark. As a part of checkout with SPIcam now I have started resetting the controller on the camera. It is possible that a loose connection in SPIcam is causing the intermittent connection failures since they seem more prevalent after moving SPIcam. After SPIcam is mounted on the telescope, I reset the controller. There was no trouble with bias frames. Afternoon checkout went smoothly, no problems encountered. I noticed a 12 degree rotator over-run on first slew, and then a few rotator 'lag-behinds' later on where it took almost 7 seconds to catch up to where it was supposed to be. Nothing serious, did not impact observing. UW commented that the pointing was very good. We switched to GRIM at 22:55. All went smoothly until the GRIM application on the Mac in the control room died at 23:35 MDT or so. (Error type 1 occurred). Restarted the software and all was fine. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Frank Deglman Did not do lensing program due to bad seeing. Spicam once would not abort from the prompt with ctrl c's. Had to kill process externally. Later, the camera stopped responding. Reset on the camera. NM10 utilized the morning twilight time to get flat field images. Closed at 05:20. ****** OBSERVER COMMENTS ****** Under clear skies we used SPIcam then GRIM to look at supernova fields. > Spent a certain amt of time chasing the focus with SPIcam.
