Large metal flakes were found on the enclosure track. It appears that the magnetic collectors bracketting the wheels have accumulated a substantial amount and may be dropping some. The second TCC window (for hosting, so not in Telrun) disappeared. Had two NA2 rotator runaways (keep going until killed) in the clockwise direction, moving at 4 degrees per second. Did Axis Init's to stop them. Had many CW overshoots (self-recovering) of a few degrees. No CCW rotator problems were seen. The UW05 user had SPIcam problems. The instrument was not responding to the computer (Dryrot). SPIcam was physically reset (on the chassis) and functoned normally. This cost the UW program the twilight flat fielding opportunity, but no scheduled observing time. UW05 had communicaton problems with both SPIcam and Remark. We had no such problems with either here. Lost about a dozen minutes then proceded by phone for a while, by locally running Spicam and getting coordinates and instructions from the remote observer. Uneventful remainder of first half. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Camron Hastings All ran smoothly second half. ****** OBSERVER COMMENTS ****** --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ----------------- Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:10 SPIcam 25(822) 274 39 13.4/14.3 188 10 I 1.07 21:20 Na2gdr -540 none 1.33 01:07 DISSlit 000(739) 017 62 12.3/12.6 345 04 none 1.42 04:20 SPIcam 025(724) 116 40 11.7/12.2 042 16 r' 1.31 #First temp is air, second temp is telescope structure. ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18:01 62 17 16 282 (WNW) 1481 clear none 19:01 62 16 11 281 (W) 1418 clear none 20:01 57 13 9 218 (SW) 1552 clear none 21:01 57 20 11 211 (SSW) 1700 clear none 22:01 56 23 12 183 (S) 1830 clear none 23:01 56 25 8 234 (SW) 1766 clear none 00:01 56 25 8 267 (W) 1662 clear none 01:01 54 24 1 352 (N) 1550 clear none 02:01 55 24 9 15 (NNE) 1645 clear none 03:01 55 25 11 30 (NNE) 1564 clear none 04:01 54 28 18 24 (NNE) 1297 clear none 05:01 54 28 11 36 (NE) 878 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
