Very effective. Delayed opening for the obtaining of DIS calibration frames. Opened at 20:40. One rotator stall during first observing slew attempt. Reinitialized axes, worked fine. A few minor rotator overshoots afterward, all of which recovered. Considerable image motion was evident on the DIS slitviewer camera. On the order of 5 arcseconds. Pointing was very good, even later in the first half. Probably as a result of the NA2 guider not being used. There is no accumulated guider offsets. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Camron Hastings Second half started smoothly. Seeing was not very good. When switching from DIS to the Echelle the telescope remained in focus perfectly! Cloud camera stalled in northern most position again. ****** OBSERVER COMMENTS ****** --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ----------------- Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:50 DISslit 175(1082) 253 57 15.4/16.6 214 16 none 1.3" 01:00 Echelle 175(????) 156 48 14.7/14.1 260 09 Clear 1.7" #First temp is air, second temp is telescope structure. ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip. or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions -------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:01 64 25 11 271 (W) 1082 ptly cldy none 19:01 64 29 15 226 (SW) 1207 ptly cldy none 20:01 58 24 11 233 (SW) 1146 ptly cldy none 21:01 60 28 11 234 (SW) 1248 ptly cldy none 22:01 60 26 16 217 (SW) 1144 mstly clr none 23:01 59 25 12 221 (SW) 1068 cirrus none 00:01 59 24 15 220 (SW) 1004 cirrus none 01:01 57 24 13 233 (SW) 994 cirrus none 02:01 59 25 13 238 (WSW) 1131 cirrus none 03:01 57 23 12 260 (W) 1156 cirrus none 04:01 58 21 8 265 (W) 1192 cirrus none 05:01 58 22 11 209 (SSW) 1168 cirrus none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
