Opened Dome at 18:55. Twilight flats were obtained for UW05 with SPIcam after some SPIcam troubles.* Started out with seeing of around 0.8 arcseconds. SPIcam got 0.56 arcsec in the I filter. The DIMM had been left running last night in an attempt to start it from the control room. No success with SMALLSEARCH. The IRSC kept stalling.* Guider problems starting at 22:25.* No stars were seen at a multitude of rotation angles. Tried reinitializing. Totally reset the NA2 guider (hardware and software). Went to an SAO star, then offset to guider. Weird vignetting with possible out of focus star. Removed SPIcam and examined guider. Filter wheel was misaligned. Set to no filter and restarted guider. Vignetting gone, but stars badly out of focus. Tried extreme pistoning and "gmech init". No change. REMAPped guider, then re"set inst=spicam". Apparently worked fine after remap. Some calibration images were done on standards during the troubleshooting time, which took about 2 hours total. Second-Half Observing Specialist: Camron Hastings Not much happened after we got the guider running. Smooth night, clear skies. UW reported that some astigmatism was seen in SPIcam images. It cleared up a bit when we refocused.
