Since we virtually never use this aspect of the dome, it is now lifted off thus preventing further potential flattening of these rollers. The LX200's N/S was found switched to S and reset back to N. The Obs1 mac gratings "sticky" did not match the apotop gratings file, so DIS was physically opened and all gratings and the slit were verified. Xiaohui Fan obtained calibration frames for the DIS. The dome was opened at 19:50. The one rotator failure experienced after opening (no afternoon test slews were done due to software testing) was corrected by merely reinitializing the axes. Only one minor runaway later on, which self-recovered. Seeing started out around one arcsec, but deteriorated to over 4, when the wind switched to the East. The DIMM was agreeing fairly well with the NA2 guider seeing measurements for most of the first half. The 1.0 micron dust count was fairly high and a few times briefly over the limit. Closed louvers and ran press fans, then later, just ran the press fans, which had about the same effect, that is, not too noticeable. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Camron Hastings Nothing too much to report. All went smooth. Telescope tracked well, pointed well. DIMM tracked the telescope seeing quite well. ------------- OBSERVER COMMENTS ------------- X.Fan: "A very productive night."
