Seeing was subarcsecond while the cirrus persisted and moderate afterward. While the NA2 guider was in use, its measurements agreed fairly well with DIMM. There was some difficulty in getting DIMM started, probably due to a poor focus, but the focus proved difficult to adjust with the new software. At startup, the Windows clock was giving the correct time, but the clock in the DIMM software was 12 hours off. I assumed this indicated another communications failure, so I restarted the DIMM software, and the clock was fine after that. New values were entered for the focus coefficients that correct for altitude, as calculated by Jeff Morgan from the recent engineering data. The calculated secondary sag coefficients have not yet been entered, since they would affect the pointing. We also turned off the autocollimation routines again, after considerable discussion on whether or not the secondary position is repeatable and reliable. This may be an unnecessary precaution. The telescope and both instruments worked well during the night, aside from frequent small overshoots of the rotator. During second half, SPIcam was used twice for target identification, both because of its larger field of view and for a rough color comparison of possible targets. OBSERVER COMMENTS J Brown (WS02): The only minor hitch we faced was in connecting; including a carriage return in your "User Name" field in the Remark communications window produces an inscrutable condition of being unable to connect. Once again, the tactic of rapid tertiary rotation between Spicam and echelle saved considerable time in acquiring targets in our globular cluster field. My thanks to Russet McMillan for her usual expertise in getting us off to a flying start on a target sinking rapidly in the southwest. A good night overall.
