The dome was opened at 19:40 for cooling, but the instrument was not ready to go at that time. Somewhat thicker clouds moved in around 23:00, and the dome was closed as a precaution. Shortly after midnight, with the clouds improving and the instrument nearly ready, the dome was re-opened. After some more preparations, we acquired a globular cluster and focused without difficulty. Due to cable strain, some limitations on rotator movement might be advisable, but only a positive limit was implemented. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Deglman The dome was opened at 00:00. The FTS was already mounted on the NA2 port. Focused on a globular cluster. Rotational tests with the device were performed. Had intermittent clouds for the last hour or so. The sky then totally clouded up. Closed at 03:20 and did not reopen, even though clouds did thin back out (not completely). The eyelid was left open, the tertiary was left at the NA2 port and the instrument was left mounted for anticipated further instrument testing.
