We opened from 21:55 to 22:55 and obtained half an instrument block before closing again due to high wind gusts. When we re-opened after midnight to do the rest of the instrument block, the seeing was excellent for a brief while and then became very bad. Out-of-focus donuts with the Fabry-Perot showed adequate if not perfect collimation. Both the guider and the Fabry-Perot were obtaining 2-4 arcsecond seeing throughout most of second half, considerably worse than measured by DIMM. We completed the Fabry-Perot instrument block and were able to start science around 01:30. A variety of different objects were observed from several of the Fabry-Perot science programs including UW10, which was not one of the programs scheduled for tonight (UC06 and DD02). No official time swaps had been negotiated, and I'm not sure how the time should be accounted. Everyone seemed happy, in any case. The guider shutter continued to be troublesome, at times exposing as little as 10% of the area of the chip. However, by judicious choice of guide stars right at the center of the chip, we were able to continue guiding. * The guider monitor refused to display the most recent guider images, so it was necessary to monitor the shutter by checking individual images in IRAF. The telescope tracking seemed generally good, despite the high wind gusts and bad seeing. OBSERVER COMMENTS Palunas: All in all, fairly efficient for a first night. If only we could have kept the 0.9-arcsecond seeing, we would have been ecstatic. Woodgate: Things went quite smoothly. It's amazing that the observing specialist managed to keep the guide star centered and keep guiding despite the decreasing field of view. It would be nice to have access to [Al Dierck's] UW finder chart interface, which assists in finding well-placed guide stars.
