Observing went smoothly; the only problem was that part of the time the seeing was too good, forcing me to change the binning on the guider because it was having trouble recognizing undersampled stars. In fact, even with the 2x2 binning we were getting some undersampling, which I believe is the best seeing ever measured with the guider. Later in the night, the seeing moderate to about one arcsecond on the guider; the slitviewer was getting somewhat worse The observer for UC01, which was scheduled for second half, was persuaded to give time to PU02. It will be paid back next quarter, and a swap form will be submitted soon. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Jack Dembicky Started my shift under clear skies. PU02 only used 2 hrs of the 2nd half with DIS. UC01 (regularly scheduled) used the rest of the night with the echelle. Everything ran smooth. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:52 DISslit -50(705) 193 51 1.8/3.2 322 7 - 0.89 17:53 NA2gdr 2888(58888) 194 51 2.0/3.2 320 8 none 0.72 02:25 Echelle 68(263) 257 56 1.7/0.7 271 6 ND2 1.21 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 38 -4 2 29 (NNE) 187 clear none 17:01 36 -7 1 290 (WNW) 188 clear none 18:01 35 -8 8 318 (NW) 48 clear none 19:01 37 -6 9 300 (WNW) 103 clear none 20:01 37 -6 9 323 (NW) 108 clear none 21:01 38 -7 10 291 (WNW) 114 clear none 22:01 38 -6 9 313 (NW) 95 clear none 23:01 36 -5 2 251 (WSW) 115 clear none 00:01 33 3 4 262 (W) 276 clear none 01:01 35 3 6 262 (W) 366 clear none 02:01 33 4 6 268 (W) 316 clear none 03:01 35 7 4 265 (W) 288 clear none 04:01 34 7 6 263 (W) 315 clear none 05:01 34 6 6 271 (W) 310 clear none 06:01 34 10 5 262 (W) 175 lt. cirrus none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
