Opened at 17:05 MST to begin cooling. Found a stuck emergency stop switch, PR submitted. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Russet McMillan A command collision with DIS at the transition between first and second half caused a delay of about 15 minutes, but I was able to spend part of that time focusing so it was not entirely lost. DIS recovered with only a little trouble and the affected image was rescued on disk. Observing went smoothly after that, aside from the very bad seeing and high wind gusts which caused us to close shortly before 0200. The wind just got worse as the morning continued, with some gusts over 50 mph, so we never reopened. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:55 DIS Slit +000(820) 130 48 +4.9/+6.0 315 10 none 1.51" 21:30 DIS Slit +050(773) 219 53 +4.1/+4.1 292 18 none 1.32" 21:35 NA2 Gdr -351(773) 221 53 +4.1/+4.1 293 13 none 1.18" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 42 2 15 322 (NW) 138 Cirrus None 17:01 42 2 14 312 (NW) 95 Cirrus None 18:01 41 3 7 322 (NW) 89 Cirrus None 19:01 40 4 13 296 (WNW) 95 Cirrus None 20:01 40 5 15 284 (WNW) 161 Mstly Clr None 21:01 40 6 17 270 (W) 169 Mstly Clr None 22:01 41 6 18 291 (WNW) 112 Mstly Clr None 23:01 40 6 11 282 (WNW) 127 clear none 00:01 36 5 17 318 (NW) 218 clear none 01:01 29 6 26 18 (NNE) 470 clear none 02:01 27 6 26 11 (N) 415 clear none 03:01 24 0 15 1 (N) 304 clear none 04:01 22 -12 22 359 (N) 225 clear none 05:01 20 -24 16 32 (NNE) 82 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
