The Goddard F-P instrument was allowed to warm today until its next use. No troubles encountered, skies were clear and temps cold and seeing bad. The GrIm application quit at around 20:50 MST and the ICC was rebooted successfully. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Russet McMillan Second half had its share of annoyances -- wind gusts, a dust spike, continued horrible seeing (3.5-5 arcsec), and computer troubles at the NMSU end which made it difficult for the observer to monitor image quality. A second failure of the GRIM application cost a few minutes. The telescope was closed shortly before 0400 due to persistent high winds. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:05 Grim(f/5) -100(588) 082 38 -1.3/-0.7 251 18 J 2.59" 18:10 NA2 Gdr -1000(565) 082 39 -1.3/-0.7 261 16 none 3.01" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 34 13 22 270 (W) 193 Clear none 17:01 32 15 22 266 (W) 424 Clear none 18:01 30 17 17 262 (W) 574 Clear none 19:01 31 17 19 267 (W) 567 Clear none 20:01 30 17 23 256 (WSW) 491 Clear none 21:01 30 16 23 268 (W) 411 Clear none 22:01 30 15 19 272 (W) 516 Clear none 23:01 28 14 21 277 (W) 572 Clear none 00:01 29 11 21 290 (WNW) 438 Clear none 01:01 29 11 21 296 (WNW) 381 Clear none 02:01 28 9 17 321 (NW) 333 Clear none 03:01 28 2 26 358 (N) 1519 Clear none 04:01 27 1 21 11 (N) 588 Clear none 05:01 25 0 32 9 (N) 302 Clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
