A near-complete absence of sunshine during the day meant that there was still a great deal of snow and ice on the roof of the dome, and also many flakes blowing around in the wind from the un-crusted ground layer of snow. Opening was never an option. A power outage early in the evening caused difficulties with several computers, which took a while to resolve. During the installation of the new slit viewer, an obscure power switch was accidentally toggled on DIS, but fortunately the problem was discovered and fixed before the dewars started warming. After all of this, we focused, aligned, and tested the new slit viewer until there was nothing left to do but wait for the ice to melt from the roof. Still, it could be worse. We could be in Palm Beach. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Noel Camron Hastings Russet and I worked on characterizing the orientation of the slit imager. I feel that we have the orientation and with the pixel scale, we are now ready to test offset amounts for centering stars. I then checked and filled instruments and went home. Dome is still pointing to the south, I left the roof heaters on upon leaving in hopes of catching a little more melt from the early morning sun.
