The instrument focus was somewhat unstable at the beginning of the evening, but once it settled down, the observing went smoothly under clear skies and mostly excellent seeing. The only mediocre seeing, of course, coincided exactly with the mounting of the Sloan imaging camera, but it recovered shortly afterward. The evening's worst complication was a meteor or plane passing through the slit right in front of a target. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Noel Camron Hastings Second shift started without any troubles. Jon Holtzman used DIS and remotely operated the new slit imager without any troubles. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:40 DISslit 25(981) 154 49 5.0/7.5 256 7 - 1.02" 17:40 NA2 Gdr 2371(981) 154 49 5.0/7.5 256 7 - 0.98" 18:30 DISslit -50(834) 208 54 4.9/6.1 256 7 - 0.93" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 44 20 6 239 (WSW) 288 clear none 17:01 41 12 3 228 (SW) 119 clear none 18:01 41 15 8 221 (SW) 127 clear none 19:01 41 19 7 264 (W) 186 clear none 20:01 40 19 6 242 (WSW) 185 clear none 21:01 41 18 8 227 (SW) 189 clear none 22:01 40 18 11 214 (SW) 234 clear none 23:01 40 16 10 213 (SSW) 294 clear none 00:01 39 16 17 214 (SW) 348 clear none 01:01 38 17 11 221 (SW) 331 clear none 02:01 39 19 10 261 (W) 391 clear none 03:01 40 17 10 252 (WSW) 341 clear none 04:01 40 17 8 267 (W) 358 cirrus none 05:01 41 18 12 274 (W) 210 cirrus none 06:01 40 19 15 300 (WNW) 260 cirrus none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
