Fortunately, we will soon be fully staffed again and able to accommodate a proper 3 pm start time. The night had moderate seeing (1.0-1.5 arcsec) and variable high clouds, enough to cost photons but not force us to stop. Once observing started, the only problems encountered were minor ones, such as occasional secondary jumps and a few difficulties with the new slitviewer control software. None of them caused more than a couple of minutes of delay. I was tinkering with the focus during many of the longer exposures; only a few of the focus adjustments are reflected in the log below. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:27 DISslit -50(824) 169 52 3.9/5.8 271 8 - 1.35 18:27 gdr -50(824) 169 52 3.9/5.8 271 8 - 1.05 01:32 DISslit 60(829) 217 45 3.5/3.3 0 7 - 1.32 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 45 2 4 277 (W) 117 cirrus none 17:01 39 -1 8 275 (W) 142 cirrus none 18:01 39 -1 9 275 (W) 171 cirrus none 19:01 38 5 7 266 (W) 226 cirrus none 20:01 38 8 11 269 (W) 268 mstly clr none 21:01 38 11 10 274 (W) 275 mstly clr none 22:01 39 11 11 272 (W) 277 mstly clr none 23:01 39 10 12 316 (NW) 249 mstly clr none 00:01 39 12 9 338 (NNW) 225 mstly clr none 01:01 40 13 17 353 (N) 177 cirrus none 02:01 39 14 9 2 (N) 193 ptly cldy none 03:01 40 14 19 356 (N) 200 ptly cldy none 04:01 40 13 14 353 (N) 161 ptly cldy none 05:01 38 14 14 37 (NE) 234 mstly clr none 06:01 37 16 26 358 (N) 159 mstly clr none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
