I opened DIMM tonight to run the cobwebs out of it. After a minor computer failure, it was up and running. UW had computer troubles so I began the flats for them. When they did get up and running they complained of continual computer hang-ups. The network from APO seemed fine, and UW had some new computers installed, so we assume that was the trouble. Later in the evening it seemed to improve. The seeing was great, with a 400s image giving 0.83" on one image and as low as 0.73" on others! Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Russet McMillan Second half was mostly clear, with just a few very thin clouds to mess up any photometry. The seeing was good to moderate, varying more with airmass than with time. We had no trouble except when all the desirable targets were within a few degrees of the zenith. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:57 SPIcam +150(0961) 099 24 +2.9/+3.2 004 09 R 1.84" 18:04 NA2 Gdr +3200(0952) 113 52 +2.7/+3.1 008 09 none 1.22" 18:34 SPIcam +100(0923) 065 47 +2.9/+3.1 349 09 R 1.41" 18:38 NA2 Gdr +1553(0920) 066 48 +2.9/+3.0 346 07 none 1.28" 18:41 SPIcam +050(0865) 066 49 +3.0/+3.0 303 05 R 1.25" 18:44 NA2 Gdr -0300(0860) 066 49 +2.9/+3.0 344 10 none 1.17" 20:41 SPIcam +050(0798) 149 67 +3.0/+2.9 358 02 R 0.98" 20:45 NA2 Gdr +0822(0802) 151 68 +2.9/+3.0 009 17 none 1.05" 21:25 SPIcam +025(0768) 216 66 +2.5/+2.6 359 12 R 0.67" 21:32 NA2 Gdr +1154(0766) 218 64 +2.5/+2.5 028 14 none 0.79" 00:32 SPIcam 100(1004) 215 40 2.9/3.0 348 11 V 0.94 00:33 gdr 100(1004) 215 40 2.9/3.0 348 11 - 1.3 02:13 SPIcam 0(854) 82 56 4.1/3.0 329 8 R 0.87 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 40 -5 9 355 (N) 63 clear none 17:01 39 -4 4 151 (SSE) 78 clear none 18:01 38 -4 8 355 (N) 95 clear none 19:01 38 -1 9 342 (NNW) 100 clear none 20:01 39 4 14 357 (N) 139 clear none 21:01 37 5 10 358 (N) 133 clear none 22:01 38 5 9 353 (N) 140 ptly cldy none 23:01 38 7 14 345 (NNW) 122 mstly clr none 00:01 39 8 18 335 (NNW) 114 mstly clr none 01:01 40 9 13 333 (NNW) 69 mstly clr none 02:01 38 11 12 317 (NW) 92 mstly clr none 03:01 40 12 12 297 (WNW) 50 mstly clr none 04:01 40 10 12 313 (NW) 66 mstly clr none 05:01 40 9 10 268 (W) 64 mstly clr none 06:01 41 8 8 269 (W) 90 mstly clr none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
