There was still some ice on the roof of the enclosure, but none of it was on or near the slit. Seeing was somewhat unstable during first half, with occasional flare-ups, but most of the time it was a little over an arcsecond. A cooler, moister airmass moved in at 20:00 and teased us for several hours, causing rapid changes in focus and seeing, but the humidity did not quite reach the closure limit. We saw some elongated images while the telescope was pointed NE; I eventually concluded that this was due to shaking from a moderate wind. The windshake had no significant effect on the spectroscopic science. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Camron Hastings Weather was good, telescope was running well when I showed up with decent seeing and low humidity. Remained so for the rest of the evening. No troubles, other than a few episodes of bad seeing. ----------------- OBSERVER COMMENTS ----------------- (UM01): "Had a good time, everything went smoothly." --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:16 DISslit 000(0798) 36 46 2.8/3.9 353 7 - 1.89 20:18 DISslit -100(0620) 23 60 0.9/2.8 342 7 - 1.08 21:53 DISslit 100(0822) 122 46 3.0/2.1 315 1 - 1.49 23:08 DISslit -050(0632) 146 57 1.0/1.8 240 1 - 1.37 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 41 9 12 342 (NNW) 115 clear none 17:01 40 12 9 12 (NNE) 102 clear none 18:01 40 13 9 346 (NNW) 103 clear none 19:01 39 15 13 17 (NNE) 87 clear none 20:01 35 21 7 355 (N) 122 clear none 21:01 34 26 6 318 (NW) 156 clear none 22:01 40 15 7 298 (WNW) 99 clear none 23:01 33 27 1 265 (W) 178 clear none 00:01 38 13 12 231 (SW) 107 clear none 01:01 37 13 8 272 (W) 136 clear none 02:01 37 23 16 275 (W) 221 clear none 03:01 37 25 10 259 (W) 248 clear none 04:01 37 27 6 255 (WSW) 333 clear none 05:01 36 29 11 268 (W) 326 cirrus none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
