The tertiary and secondary were homed, and the az, alt, rotator, and gmech were re-mapped. While all this was going on, the Fabry-Perot observers were able to do some more tests with their instrument. A moderate improvement in the weather allowed us to open at 23:25, but the humidity and windspeed were both hovering near the limit. We managed to get a little bit of science done before the telescope cooled too close to the dewpoint, and we had to close again at 00:40. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Jack Dembicky Clouds with high winds and scattered occasional lt. showers prevented any further science being taken for the night. NA2 eyelid was open at shutdown for cooling inside rotator, since FP instrument was left on NA2 Port. Shutting down seemed to go smoothly with all instrument temps checking out fine and filled with LN2 (where necessary). My first solo 2nd half night, with only a minor computer command problem that I had in collecting the weather data for this log. A short phone call to Russet fixed my dilema. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:43 gfp 0(1110) -27 41 5.2/5.9 99 14 6563 2.5 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 45 33 18 153 (SSE) 364 cloudy none 17:01 43 33 20 140 (SE) 374 cloudy none 18:01 42 36 22 127 (SE) 400 cloudy none 19:01 42 36 20 124 (SE) 474 cloudy rain 20:01 40 34 17 119 (ESE) 459 cloudy rain 21:01 41 37 27 124 (SE) 558 cloudy none 22:01 41 36 20 115 (ESE) 473 mstly cldy none 23:01 42 35 21 122 (ESE) 349 ptly cldy none 00:01 41 37 16 108 (ESE) 463 ptly cldy none 01:01 42 38 27 111 (ESE) 615 cloudy none 02:01 43 38 22 126 (SE) 505 cloudy none 03:01 44 39 36 126 (SE) 518 cloudy none 04:01 44 40 20 136 (SE) 1003 cloudy lt. rain 05:01 43 43 21 143 (SE) 1654 cloudy none 06:01 43 43 27 153 (SSE) 1393 cloudy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
