There is a trainee observer on sight from PU, so we are also running through the training checklist and info. Rotator behaved normally for me on my slews first half. No error messages from tertiary nor from the GPS clock. When the cloud camera was started it had trouble responding to the scanstart command, or it appeared to. It would be stalled repeatedly. I eventually got it to run, but on the first scan it became stuck in the northern most position. I restarted it again and it seemed to behave after that. We stopped observing due to weather at 22:50 MDT until weather cleared. Observing Specialist, 2nd shift: Russet McMillan Weather at the beginning of first half allowed the dome to remain open, but rapidly-moving clouds prevented any data acquisition until 00:45. More clouds caused similar trouble starting at 01:50, and the telescope was closed for part of the time. The remainder of the night offered nothing but sucker holes. Aside from the weather (still an improvement over the past week), we had no troubles. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:20 SPIcam +050(0950) 124 57 7.9/8.9 260 14 r' 0.87" 22:30 GrIm f/5 -050(0955) 193 51 8.0/8.3 249 07 J 0.71" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 55 35 18 237 (WSW) 192 ptly cldy none 17:01 54 37 13 249 (WSW) 223 ptly cldy none 18:01 50 32 20 249 (WSW) 194 ptly cldy none 19:01 46 34 15 263 (W) 235 clear none 20:01 46 35 11 257 (WSW) 229 clear none 21:01 47 35 9 215 (SW) 254 clear none 22:01 48 36 10 264 (W) 250 clear none 23:01 47 36 11 232 (SW) 239 ptly cldy none 00:01 47 37 11 195 (SSW) 265 cloudy none 01:01 48 39 15 224 (SW) 258 ptly cldy none 02:01 47 39 12 235 (SW) 253 cloudy none 03:01 48 39 11 257 (WSW) 280 cloudy none 04:01 47 39 14 239 (WSW) 266 ptly cldy none 05:01 46 40 7 267 (W) 294 ptly cldy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
