Pointing was poor at first, but excellent after I did a double pointing correction. Tracking with DIS in use was very stable. We have noticed lately that the collimation looked rather poor with the DIS slitviewer. Tonight, while focusing SPIcam, I took the opportunity to check the collimation with fewer optics between detector and telescope, and found the same result. So the observer for PU04 donated ten minutes of time, and I saved an additional ten minutes on the instrument change so that I could get some Shack-Hartmann images at two different secondary positions. These measurements do not fix the immediate problem since we can't change the default collimation without taking a pointing model, but it may reduce the required on-sky engineering time. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El #Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:35 SPIcam -75(1106) 91 64 16.1/17.7 258 2 g' 1.14 20:37 DISslit -75(1174) 133 47 15.4/16.5 244 7 - 1.00 01:16 DISslit 50(1265) 236 41 15.5/15.3 240 12 - 0.85 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 17:01 66 30 11 300 (WNW) 271 clear none 18:01 65 30 4 308 (NW) 265 clear none 19:01 62 30 7 275 (W) 349 clear none 20:01 59 30 5 267 (W) 344 clear none 21:01 60 30 8 247 (WSW) 304 clear none 22:01 60 29 8 211 (SSW) 362 clear none 23:01 60 28 8 208 (SSW) 425 clear none 00:01 60 28 9 237 (WSW) 423 clear none 01:01 60 27 13 227 (SW) 462 clear none 02:01 60 27 6 244 (WSW) 501 clear none 03:01 59 27 8 249 (WSW) 466 clear none 04:01 59 28 8 303 (WNW) 558 clear none 05:01 58 28 12 22 (NNE) 439 clear none 06:01 59 28 13 32 (NNE) 329 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
