I acquired a star on the echelle slit camera, then switched to spicam to take twilight flats. After the flats were done I switched back to the echelle and did a pointing model. It took about an hour to take and reduce the pointing model data. The results were good, a 59 point model with 3 arcsec rms. and no obvious systematic error. I tested the pointing at several azimuths and altitudes before applying it. The focus zeropoint has changed as a result of last night's engineering work. I will make the change in the configuration file tomorrow afternoon. I charged this time as equipment loss. Matt Holman observed remotely with SPIcam for PU04 after the pointing model was finished. Some of his images were trailed by about 3 arcsec. Others were sharp as a tack. I don't know if the direction of trailing was primarily azimuth or altitude. I've logged the trailed images as equipment loss time. 2nd half observing specialist: Deglman Rita Kim and Xiaohui Fan observed on site with DIS for PU07. Rotator problems became evident around 01:30. Jon Davis was contacted and the telescope was closed at 02:00 to begin troubleshooting. The DIS mount had sagged to the point where the instrument began binding with it at various rotation angles. This binding apparently caused instrument rotator damage rendering the NA2 port inoperative. The 3.5m was not reopened.
