McMillan The telescope was not opened tonight due to a combination of bad weather and equipment trouble. A lightning strike this afternoon took out most of the phones, and possibly also caused an error to show up on the tertiary tip/tilt motors. In the process of homing the tertiary to clear the errors, I discovered some more serious problems. Mark Klaene and I eventually traced these to some loose wires in the tertiary control. By 01:30 the tertiary was functional again, but high humidity and clouds kept the telescope closed anyway.
