Opening was delayed by clouds. Most of the clouds cleared off by mid evening, so it wasn't too bad a night for spectroscopy. Gordon Richards observed remotely with DIS for UC01. He lost an exposure due to the shutter sticking open. I'm not sure why the shutter was complaining. I checked to see if it was sticking on the slit mask wheel, but it didn't appear to be stuck on anything. A "home" closed the shutter. Russet and I continue to log the pointing corrections. 2nd half observing specialist: Russet McMillan Second half was peaceful and largely uneventful, except for the notably poor tracking on fields where a guide star was unavailable. The weather data on the web page and guider monitor is still not updating, although the cloud camera images are now being processed. OBSERVER COMMENTS G.Richards (UC01): So-so night. Lots of clouds, small problem with the DIS shutter; however, we did manage to get some work done.
