It's light snow, so it should blow off or melt off by tomorrow afternoon. The site received about 9 inches of snow, with a lot of drifting due to the high wind last night. Cloudcroft received 13 inches of snow. Sunspot highway has been plowed. There was a lot of snow in the 2.5-m enclosure again this afternoon, about 2 inches deep up near the inside of the east door with a dusting several feet underneath the telescope. The snow was 6 inches deep in a couple places. There was also a little snow on the cover on the front of the telescope. I cleared the snow out of the enclosure. Frank found a lot of snow in the DIMM dome as well. He cleared out the snow in that enclosure. The buttons on the keypad locks to the upper and lower level doors to the 2.5-m enclosure were both frozen. I thawed out the lower level lock with a heat gun. Frank finished the site snow removal today. 2nd half observing specialist: McMillan The humidity was high until 03:00, when the wind shifted and a warmer, dry air mass moved in. The telescope was left facing south for maximum insolation during the day, so if the temperature remains at or above freezing, the ice should be gone from the enclosure roof by next evening.
